If we accept AlexanderHowl's statement

Then in both standard 4e and KyoS the damage is disconnected from Lifting capacity.
ST 10 does Thrust 1d-2 (Average 1.66)and Swing 1d (Average 3.5)
Under standard 4e
ST 20 = 4x Lifting which should be 2x Damage per AlexanderHowl quote above.
1.66 X2 = 3.32 ≈ 3.5 = Thrust 1d
3.5 X2 = 7 = Swing 2d
however the table gives Thrust 2d-1 Swing 3d+1
ST 30 = 9x Lifting which should be 3x Damage
1.66 X3 = 4.98 ≈ 5 ≈ Thrust 1d+1 or Thrust 1d+2
Swing 3d
however the table gives Thrust 3d Swing 5d+2
ST 40 = 16x Lifting which should be 4x Damage
1.66 X4 = 6.64 ≈ 7 ≈ Thrust 2d-1 or Thrust 2d
Swing 4d
however the table gives Thrust 4d+1 Swing 7d-1
50 = 25x Lifting which should be 5x Damage
1.66 X5 = 8.3 ≈ Thrust 2d+1
Swing 5d
however the table gives Thrust 5d+2 Swing 8d-1
etc
