You're leaving off the REALLY old ones, which were even taller and narrower. History lesson: we first started making bookmarks because our book printer had waste space around the edges of our GURPS book covers (back when they were still softbacks), and offered to print bookmarks there free so the paper wasn't being wasted.
It's not that the printer doesn't offer the size we had been using, it's that it's a nonstandard size, so it cost us more. Going to a standard size is saving us quite a lot of money, which is a consideration for a free promotional giveaway.
