Character freebies.

These are things that are automatically available to all characters in Worlds of Fire:

- Personal Poison Snooper -

The resturants and mess halls at the Western Harbour are all linked into the main personel database, and index linked with the medical and recreational records to ensure that no one can order something that would be harmful to them, or that would be unhealthy.

In the field this is harder to arrange, and so the Personal Poison Snooper was developed. The device in implanted in the palm of one hand (or both if preferred). It scans any food or drink that is held in that hand and indicates a colour based on the results. The colour is shown as a glow from beneath the skin in the back of the hand or on the palm.

Colours:
None - Food/ drink is safe
Purple - To be considered unhealthy; do no consume large quantities
Red - Poison detected, do not consume

The results of the scan are based on pre-loaded data regarding an individual; something that comes up as red for one person may be fine for another based on their personal allergies and reactions. This data is only as up-to-date as the last medical check-up at the Western Harbour (or one of the other Harbours if appropriate).

The Snooper cannot distiguish between food that has been poisoned being handled and poison being handled; it will flash red any time poison is detected. Additionally it will not pick up binary poisons unless the two components are brought together at once. It can however pick up such things at a range of up to fifteen centimetres, meaning that most types of utensiles and implements will not interfere with the check.

- Escaping Death -

Amongst the Powers That Be are figures of great power and authority. And while they are not willing to abandon the rules, they are willing to bend them for those who are helping them.

When a character dies, the local Death is not allowed to simply claim them. Instead Death must provide an option for the character to get out and return to life. This might be a simple challenge or a complex conundrum; it can be obvious or devious. All that is required is that the character has the chance to escape death.

Important Note: No one has ever escaped Death twice, and no one who appears to have relied on being able to escape death has done so at all.
