Sorry, I meant the range of the dice-roll, so rolling a 10 (say = success)
means you can turn that into a 3 or 4 (critical success) so it's not a
numbers-driven dealy.

That's quite a hand-wave....

Does Lucky Break involve dropping a die roll by 1 pt (or 3%) ?

If so then I'd probably just make it go "inactive" after a successful use,
then assuming 3% of 365 days is ~10; wait 350 or so days...

Yeah, some of the spells just don't do it for me (too many years of canned
goods :)

So I'm interested in the toolbox approach, however I was always able to make
my own toolbox in the canned...

Probably hundreds, but I'm not familiar enough with GURPS 4e to be able to
converse in the actual nomenclature. I find it a bit too much.

If "Ignition" is a perk, then in my mind a perk/cantrip...

I think it's due to the fact no two GURPS fans (theoretically) see things
exactly the same. And the mechanics encourages this (passively if not actively).

So it looks like "Familiar can Speak" equals MindLink p70 in Characters.

It's a 5 point advantage and automatically works in both sending/receiving
with one person.

Pretty standard fare in high-level D&D games. Things like Astral Power
or Scrying once known is also countered. But it truly depends on the
sophistication of the two powers/strugglers involved....

That's sorta what I'm aiming at, opponents that have a good amount of
ability but aren't so high that are invulnerable.

Hmmm, might have spoke too soon. 175 points. Jeez. Take the spell
then, but screw the power. Lots of things I wouldn't bother with,
such as "Doesn't breathe" and so on.

Since I'm new to G4e, I'd say make the equivalent character in D&D-land
(ballpark him) then see if you can make him in GURPS.

Don't be surprised if you surpass the 200 point barrier with ease.

Probably 4e but retro-fitted to 3e.

Basically, 4e ditched a lot of the 3e stuff I liked, such as TL 8
Microbots from GURPS Robots and Spring Needlers. I think even
Gyrocs were TL8, at least...
