Re: Report To The Stakeholders

By the way, kudos on this! I know you're not the only folks doing this, but I also have heard from others trying it that it's an uphill climb. What I've heard is that artists have figured out that...

Re: Report To The Stakeholders

Yeah, the self-containedness, and coherence (DFRPG is more of a game where GURPS is more of a game-building toolkit) made me think that DFRPG is something where an organized play system might almost...

Re: Report To The Stakeholders

Do ebooks break that trend at all? The cost of keeping a PDF "in print" has to be quite tiny. (Not zero, because there is maintaining servers, but nowhere near as expensive as something that...

Re: Report To The Stakeholders

How long has it been a "periodicals" market? I haven't kept up in the last year or two, but for years Paizo would list the Pathfinder Core Rule Book as their primary seller.

I can see it would...

Re: Report To The Stakeholders

The paragraph on DFRPG doesn't make sense. First there's:

So, yes, there's all the problems we heard about from last year's report tothe stakeholders, which means that the good sales don't...

Re: Dungeon Fantasy RPG is shipping?

Kromm, I bet you're looking forward to finding out what's in it!

Re: Suggestion for bases with DFRPG

I've just cut out little small squares of sticker (e.g. from labels or something) and put them on bases, and written numbers in pen. Not quite as elegant as paint pens, but it works, and it used...

Re: Light Spells and Vision Penalties -- Spells and Exploits Contradiction

Bump. I'm hoping to get some sort of official ruling as to whether Spells or Exploits takes precedence on the light issue.

My preference (and what I'll use in games I GM if I get a chance to...

Re: Sweet heaven is this well written.

Actually, I think my favorite line is in the Races chapter of Adventurers. It's the response that half-elves give to elves not offering them access to elven equipment.... (That line was in GURPS...

Re: Carboard Hero Bases

Yeah, you did right by everybody with the Kickstarter.

Plus, people who backed at a high level got lots of toys fast. (The GURPS DF line, for instance.)

And once it arrived, it looks very...

Re: Light Spells and Vision Penalties -- Spells and Exploits Contradiction

Aside: GURPS Basic Set agrees with the Spells interpretation. Torchlight still leaves you with a -3 penalty. Is this something that was simplified for DFRPG? If so, then probably that's an errata...

Light Spells and Vision Penalties -- Spells and Exploits Contradiction

Exploits and Spells seem to contradict each other on the subject of what vision penalties (that would apply to vision and attack rolls) are.

Spells, p. 45, says that when magic is the sole source...

Re: First Impressions

Sigh. Welcome to modern American society. It's even worse teaching students at a liberal arts college -- people in college mind you -- and they get angry when you have the audacity to think that...

Re: Printing cardboard heroes

A big set of cardboard heroes on heavy cardstock designed to go with bases is something that I would be interested in, and would definitely consider backing on Kickstarter.

(Esp. if we also get...

Re: Sweet heaven is this well written.

Even in the main writing, the tone of it does a great job of fitting the genre. That is, it's not all jokey, but it also doesn't take itself too seriously -- as is the case for an action-and-loot...

Re: How has the science in Gurps Space 4th edition & Gurps Traveller held up?

Sol-like systems are out there.

But, you could come up with interesting things to do in space with a system that has a Hot Jupiter. Good place for pirates to hide, if there are no useful worlds...

Re: Cardboard Heroes

Thick cardboard heroes for use with bases are great. One big advantage is that they travel better than ones assembled into T or A shapes. You can stack a lot of flat cardboard heroes into a craft...

Re: Rules Differences Between DFRPG and GURPS

Mostly DFRPG. Technically, it's a different game from GURPS. GURPS Dungeon Fantasy is a set of GURPS genrebooks/worldbooks (one could make an argument that even though they don't have a named and...

Re: What's Next for GURPS?

I ran a sometimes-GURPS, sometimes-Fudge space campaign, set in David Pulver's Pheonix Sector of Space Atlas 4, back with my Nashville group.

(In fact, the web page for it is still online....

Re: What's Next for GURPS?

I'm fond of the small PDF supplements, plus the GURPS-centric version of Pyramid we've got right now. It's all small press, not gigantic support, but it's good stuff by and large.

The right kind...

Re: September 9, 2017: Jerry Pournelle

That's sad.

Mote in God's Eye has at times been my favorite novel. (Right now, I typically list A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge as my favorite novel. Unsurprisingly, it bears some...

Re: [Powers] The Power of... Gadgeteering?

Although it's not quite the same thing, it might be worth looking at Sean Punch's "Weird Science" power from Pyramid 3/46.

Re: Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game Discussion Thread

Will there be something like the Bits & Mortar program to provide PDFs of the game to those who buy the physical box? I'm not asking for myself; I was a high enough level Kickstarter backer that I...
