Re: GURPS After the End 2: The New World

Useful bits are a system for exploring falling apart buildings and looting them of random bits, and then using those bits for mostly cinematic invention/upgrades/repair. So if you have exploration...

Re: [AtE] Nuclear Target List

My point is those towns I listed? Those are ALL of the 50k+ cities in CO, unless you start counting suburbs. Which I don't. Like you say, something big (Denver) is gonna get hit with multiple...

Re: [AtE] Nuclear Target List

Well, I wanted the players to be able to visit multiple sites on the Colorado front range with nuke craters in the center of the city. You have to hit rather small cities for that to be possible. ...

Re: [AtE] Nuclear Target List

My solution for the above was to flap my hands wildly and talk about how the original AIs were originally designed to maintain the nuclear weapon systems, and kept doing so after they were mostly...

Re: GURPS After the End 2: The New World

Yeah, sorry. Lower case unreliable, not upper case Unreliable. My bad.

I figure it probably gets you gear breaking unrealistically frequently (and in generally dramatic manners, given that stuff...

Re: [AtE] Nuclear Target List

FWIW, this is the approach I took. Every city in the US over 50k people gets at least one nuke, often multiple from MIRVs. All large dams, any intersection of interstates, all military and national...

Re: GURPS After the End 2: The New World

Thoughts on unreliable equipment:

In most games I play, equipment is almost never making HT checks. It just never seems to show up. But I feel like it definitely SHOULD in a post-apoc game. On...

Re: GURPS After the End 2: The New World

I also use 3e's Steamtech for ideas of what kind of fun stuff artificers should be able to build, if you're into a little steam/clock punk in your DF.

Re: [ATE] What makes you interested?

When do we start with the cannibalism?

Similarly, Chinese wheelbarrows:

Re: AtE and Bikes

I do think they'd be pretty common, though maybe not so much with inner tubes as opposed to just solid rubber tires.

You probably wouldn't see them as much in places that were hilly, but I can...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

I also wanted a nearby "evil empire" in Canon City, with all the prisoners escaping and setting up a "assless chaps and skullthrones" society with a bit more industrial base.

Robots were basically...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying it's not the best approach to try to get the last word in and then try to say that everyone should drop it if you actually want that to happen.

I...

Re: [ATE] What makes you interested?

Both of these. I am really hoping there are " build up a settlement/society" rules in AtE2, or a future supplement, as well as better/simpler/more streamlined "survival fiction" emulation rules than...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

Generally, if you want to convince someone to agree to disagree, it isn't particularly useful to preface that request with a forceful dismissal of the other person's viewpoint. Just sayin'.

Re: Let's GURPS: Content Posts

Just wanted to say that i checked your stuff out yesterday, and some if it is really good. I really liked the random encounter deconstruction and your terrain hazard stuff.

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

Depends on the type of meat. You need a high fat content or else you can start suffering from Rabbit Starvation. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_starvation)

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

Yes, yes, it's certainly a best case scenario climate wise (though as you note, they need to import water from somewhere that's not the southern California desert), and I'm not arguing they are...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

I have a bunch of invasive Dyer's Woad in my backyard right now, common in the Western States and native to Central Asia/the Caucacus. Kudzu is big in the SE. Asian carp. Tumbleweeds, as iconic as...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

It's a variety of factors, but I've seen no indication that it's "just" urban/suburban feliens that are contributing to North American bird extinctions. It's just that farm cats are broadly useful...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

Unless you have massive ecological catasstophy (world now much hotter, colder, widely and highly contaminated by radiation, diseases, chemical warfare, nanobots, zombies, etc) wildlife is going to be...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

Note that the folks in the video don't do any grains or corn. Both are space intensive and don't give you a whole lot of weight per area, compared to intensive veggie farming.

That said, here are...

Re: [AtE] [Low Tech] Farming in AtE

I've seen a couple urban permaculture farms that get about 6,000 lbs of varied vegetables out of 1/10 an acre or so. That's intensive planting, and they may use more organic fertilizer than they can...
