Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Rage Across Yttaria

Ooh, I like that. Bunyips, weremegatheria, Mokole, Anansi (especially among the Dwarves). Are Changing Breeds race-specific, or are they spread across all three Elder Races?

Fortunately not...

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Yttaria by Night

The Second Banestorm was geographically narrow, of course, so it wouldn't massively challenge the Megalan establishment. You're dropping a hellish mix of Camarilla, Sabbat, Giovanni and, oddly,...

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Yttaria by Night

Hmm. It's a level playing field - none of the Clans have many big hitters around - so I'd still see the Ventrue's cohesion as an advantage. That said, it occurs to me the Ventrue would also be hit by...

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Ascension: Yttaria

I saw core Verbena being most powerful in the Nomad Lands, with pagan magical practices being suppressed by the Order of Hermes and Cabal of Pure Thought as "hedge magic" in Megalos and Caithness.

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Ascension: Yttaria

Nice, so the Ascension War is predominantly Islam vs Christianity (with all three alliances being various flavours of Pattern-oriented), with the technomages (who on Yrth are Questing-oriented) being...

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Yttaria by Night

The Tzimisce definitely hammered in the first week. I can see opportunistic vampires tracking them down and diablerising or killing them as soon as they've twigged what's happened, and maybe staking...

Re: [WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Ascension: Yttaria

I would use standard GURPS spell magic on Yrth (and to represent Sorcery/Thaumaturgy from Earth).

My understanding in Mage is that most of the traditions maintain bodies of traditionally trained...

[WOD] [Banestorm] Yrth of Darkness: Ascension: Yttaria

Okay, thought exercise that may develop into a campaign.

The premise is fairly straightforward: the Earth of the Banestorm setting is the Earth of World of Darkness (original, not reboot), and the...

Re: Firefly - Breaking the Verse

Why not? No person engaged in an illegal transaction will be interested in traceable currency for that transaction; but if the legal currency is more stable or widely usable than the illegal...

Re: Firefly - Breaking the Verse

Okay, so, middle-to-outer worlds:

Initially, no real impact, although the media frenzies about it all. People keep buying and selling stuff at the prices they expect to, and there's still stuff to...

Re: Firefly - Breaking the Verse

I don't know if there's a canon answer, but logic says yes. It's tempting to see Core/Rim as a City/Country dichotomy, where the crowded core worlds need the spacious outer worlds to grow its food,...

Re: Firefly - Breaking the Verse

Yeah, but in theory, coin is even illegal on the Rim; it's just not a closely observed law. So in the status quo, credit dominates out to worlds like Persephone and maybe a bit further, where Coretex...

Re: Firefly - Breaking the Verse

You have a universal official currency, but several worlds; if issuing banks are planetary rather than Verse-wide, you have all the tools you need for economic instability, following the Euro model....

Re: Mitigator for Terminally Ill?

That was the third-edition solution, IIRC, and I'm assuming it was scrapped for balance.

Not Disadvantaged isn't the same as Advantaged; the former you try to make as accessible as possible while...

Re: Mitigator for Terminally Ill?

Well, assuming you use the Heart Attack affliction rules as soon as the heart stops, and someone has to restart it (or there's a skill or trait roll or something), then this seems a fair model to me.

Re: Mitigator for Terminally Ill?

Yep to pretty much all of it. As well as treatments and devices, I also allow Pacts, skill or trait rolls, and pretty much anything the players' creativity can come up with, if there isn't a more RAW...

Re: Vulnerability (Symptoms) and Weakness (Side Effect)

Cool, so broad approval then. Thanks!

Although on reflection I think they might be better renamed Vulnerability (Affliction) and Weakness (Affliction).

Vulnerability (Symptoms) and Weakness (Side Effect)

Hey all,

So I'm working on a 4th Edition Vampire the Masquerade conversion (as we all do from time to time), and while tackling the thorny "staking" problem came up with what I thought was a...

Re: [Banestorm] Caithness civil war and Orcslayer

Horses for courses, naturally. :)

Absolutely! (We get the same over here, of course, with the many narratives of Thatcherite Britain :s ) The difference is one of scale; someone who looks...

Re: [Banestorm] Caithness civil war and Orcslayer

I disagree. I'd tend to throw them in and see which way they go. Choosing a side is the best part of political RP. Gives the players scope to debate among themselves which way they'll go, too.

Re: [Banestorm] Caithness civil war and Orcslayer

#1. How about cells of techno-rebels? One of baronies is quietly courting engineers with black-powder weapons and other TL4 technologies in exchange for support in a tentative later uprising further...

Re: Firefly game - what am I missing?

That's a sonic weapon, I'm pretty sure. They have a little box.

I agree! She knows things she couldn't, sees things she couldn't. In both that episode and the finale (not to mention the...
