Re: What GURPS needs... now

But is the situation so much less than ideal that you would put a halt on further GURPS supplements for a couple of months? Because the problem is that assembling all the templates and writing where...

Re: Acquiring perks & advantages on a realistic setting

Whereas the ideal forum post should follow the Cooperative principle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperative_principle) and the Politeness Maxims. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politeness_maxims)...

Re: Unaging world conqueror

Not to mention that land laws in the Medieval period (at least in Sweden) banned selling land to non-family members unless all family members had said no. Isn't there something in Leviticus about...

Re: Question about Fanaticism

Okay, so it seems we have two different positions which I shall call Curmudgeon and Mailanka. Hmm...

I think Mailanka's opinion seems more in keeping with the spirit of the rules. Although one...

Re: Acquiring perks & advantages on a realistic setting

Laywers and politicians base their profession on hostile interpretation. When we communicate, we usually give a charitable interpretation of what the other person says, which means taking a lot of...

Question about Fanaticism

If I take Fanaticism for something, that means that I will follow any moral code required for that. Do I get points for that as well?

For instance, take a Fanatic Franciscan who really follows...

Re: Fresh GM questions (sorcery)

If you want others to be able to use the ability, Affliction is the way to go.

Re: Acquiring perks & advantages on a realistic setting

"All language skills drop to Broken when sleep-deprived" would be an interesting quirk.

Re: Real-Life Weirdness

Just found this: Monument to Azathoth appears on lawn (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127220-Monument-to-Lovecraftian-God-Appears-on-Lawn) in Oklahoma City.

Re: Ideas Are Easy

So the emoji movie seems like a giant pile of poop (played by Sir Patrick Stewart) but maybe the idea has some currency in a game world. Could you imagine playing an emoji? What emoji?

Re: Pyramid issue with calculated Treasure

That math looks suspicious. It should either be multiplied by 0.005 or 0.5%, right?

Re: Resources for Fantasy religions

GURPS Religion is a great resource. My copy is falling apart so I'm glad it's available as a pdf. Godchecker works for me and has been added to my library. Thanks!

Re: [Low-Tech Loadouts] Etruscan Warrior, 7th to 3rd century B.C.

Would such a helmet be practical on the battlefield? IIRC, horns on helmets are a very bad idea for several reasons. Maybe it's a ceremonial helmet.

Re: City Stats: "Most Cities Are Androgynous"

I think that's going down a rabbithole that will lead us to discuss LGBT labels as they apply to cities.

Re: The Confusion of Detecting Magic and Items

Anyway, this is off-topic. Short answer - skills can do a lot of identifying, but in some games it is difficult to do this with magic items. I remember old AD&D, where every use of Identify cost you...

Re: The Confusion of Detecting Magic and Items

Remember that there are skills as well. Take the Thaumatology skill to recognise "an unknown spell when you see it... etc." Another possibility is Hidden Lore (Magic Items) or Expert Skill (Magic...

Re: What GURPS needs... now

I don't know that we have the data to assess what GURPS needs... now. We don't have sales figures, and that would seem to me to be vital to such a discussion. Without that, we might as well consult...

Re: [Low-Tech Loadouts] Etruscan Warrior, 7th to 3rd century B.C.

The prices in Low-Tech are not historical, they are based on utility. Otherwise no one would use mail and that's not realistic. The problem is that GURPS doesn't reflect many of the advantages of...
