Re: Campaign: Facets

Crap. I copied and pasted over from the Denver GURPS Group forum and must have done something weird.

As for the rolls, I usually don't log those during play, but both Jeff (Steven) and Anten...

Re: Campaign: Facets

(...continued)

The dirigible limped over toward the other two airships, and A.J., Beatrice and Steven took a few minutes to assess the damage.

The top rudder was mostly missing so they...

Re: Campaign: Facets

After some hesitation, and despite deep reservations, Beatrice also recommended they cut some firing ports in the bottom of the gondola. That would eliminate its ability float, but...

Re: Campaign: Facets

We had another session of Facets, a couple of weeks back. Things did not go as planned.

Characters Present:

Dr. Henrietta "Indiana" Johnson -- A personable, age 29-and-holding Anthropologist...

Re: Fencing Game Preferences

That crossed my mind, too, immediately after D'Artagnan and friends. :)

I like the Three Kingdoms Period, as a suggestion, though.

Re: Survival (Urban).

Okay. I'd go with the "Crewman" choice, too. I didn't have my book with me, when I posted that, and the professional skill just popped into my head.

I think the rest remains valid, though.

Re: Survival (Urban).

Yes, on the first. However, Survival (Urban) would tell you which alleys will block the wind and provide decent shelter from rain or snow (or blistering heat); which restaurants to check behind for...

Re: Real-Life Weirdness

Of course, the best twist for an RPG setting is that the holy man got it dead-bang correct, and the fact that the dad didn't kill the son means the kid will grow up as a locus of evil and...

Re: Hidden Realms

I wouldn't put it in space, either. Canonically, the setting already has Isolate communities on Earth, and that seems a solid projection of current trends.

According to this story, which provides...

Re: Killing Slavers

This accurately describes the situation. Even the Greeks, who were some of the most enlightened thinkers of the Ancient World (arguably, the most enlightened), forthrightly stated that anybody not a...

Re: Looking for members of Colorado GURPS board

I'm in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood, which is not a bad drive and easily accessible. It's not inconsequential, though.

Re: TL8 Prosthetic Legs

One of the characters in my Facets campaign, Beatrice, has one of these on one leg. I gave her a permanent Move -1, for it. I don't think a second one would impact the wearer much more than that,...

Re: New Sci Fi Setting Seeds

Denver would probably at least start out pretty strong. We have a robust economy and took advantage of the economic downturn to approve a bunch of bond issues to improve the city's infrastructure.

Re: New Sci Fi Setting Seeds

Ugh. I could've lived out the rest of my life quite happily without ever knowing anything about that Evola character. Too bad that bomb fragment in Vienna didn't hit him, higher up. The cerebral...

Re: Post nuke Alaska

The social situation in rural Alaska could prove incredibly grim -- especially for women.

Re: Child PCs and NPCs

I've included children in my games, in the past, and sometimes they'll even serve as significant plot elements.

For instance, in my second scratch-built fantasy game, which began with the party...

Re: [AtE] Wasteland vehicle improvised weaponry

If the bad guys have flamethrowers available, and don't mount at least one to an electric guitar, they deserve to lose wasteland cred for Doing It Wrong!

Re: Parrying "Low Kicks" With Judo (Martial Arts)

This is right, although I'd restate the sequence as, "Parry, followed by a leg grapple or sweep to the other foot for a take-down, followed by a leg-lock to cripple."

Re: Parrying "Low Kicks" With Judo (Martial Arts)

I know this is a "rules question" and not a "real world" question, but maybe a "real world" answer can help with the rule?

I took Judo, briefly, and it's a "soft" art that focuses on using an...

We had a short session of Facets, a bit more than three weeks ago. It started on a Sunday morning, and I expected it to wind up in a fight, but we had a bunch of people missing, and others needed to...
