Re: Faster reloading on a budget

You don't need to, Kelly Pedersen literally spelled out how it works for muzzle-loaders.

That's perfectly fine as well.

Re: Force Field, Area Effect, Affects Others

Just a side question I'd like the group-mind's take on, and this looks like a good thread for it...

Is DR with Force Field, Area Effect and Selectivity is the way to go if you want to give...

Re: Picking the nits: More DFRPG questions!

Then I can't help you. Make up what you want, I'm answering based on "previous discussions of RAW/RAI fantasy* magic".

Re: Picking the nits: More DFRPG questions!

They weren't. most of it falls under 'common sense', but I know Kromm has weighed in a few times so my take on it is influenced heavily by those old posts (which I don't have time to hunt for, they...

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

On the 'overlap': I'm actually generally fine with this. I prefer for the Five Man Band to have some overlap, so when one person goes down, the party hasn't completely lost the ability to do that...

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

You start assigning prices to traits you want or expect to see purchased frequently, like Attributes and Skills, and move along from there as whswhs outlined. Comparing things, playtesting, etc,...

Re: I smell a Rat + Halls of Justice (spoilers for the former)

Or the golems. Merle really is a bit of a push-over after those three beasties.

Because he's usually (99% of the time) right. This is his once in lifetime failing. ;)

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

No. I'm saying I like where they're at, but if they were to change I'd prefer it be based on an objective standard rather than a subjective one.

Is it?

I'lll grant I tend to run 'fantasy'...

Re: Would you like a Melee Fighting Talent?

Old school play is malicious now?

The default between most weapons and Knife is really garbage. And in my experience the 'back-up' weapon of choice tends to be a knife.

Not saying this...

Re: [Basic] Disadvantage of the Week: Greed

I've found that Greed is the most ... drama causing Disad my Players can take. There's always the one Player, you know the type, "But it's in my Character's nature to steal from the party, he has...

Re: Picking the nits: More DFRPG questions!

Excellent question; the answer makes a big difference on the combat map. I'm going to guess that barriers do constrain the area, but I'd like to know of any official ruling out there.[/QUOTE]
Sorry...

Re: Would you like a Melee Fighting Talent?

Which is why I made my version "all combat skills that have a default."

Sure, if you're literally never going to ever use up any other combat skil than the 2-6 you've tossed points into, then...

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

So, in part, because some people have difficulty in remembering the handful of skills they have written on the paper in front of them, your proposal is to reduce the number of disparate skills...

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

Or, just, you know... keep IQ and DX real close to one another...

My point was to not base skill costs off of some subjective value.

Re: Skills and Techniques are too expensive

I ask... what to you is super high? To me, anything above 14 is super high...

I've been toying with the idea of mirroring points spent on a skill into 'free' points for Techniques.

Re: Questions about random treasure generation

The hardened adventures tossed the last bags of loot onto the wagon, and paused to wipe sweat from brows, drink some refreshments*, and catch their breaths.

Stenet, the Dwarven Holy Warrior, ran...

Re: Picking the nits: More DFRPG questions!

I don't know about hand waving as DFRPG is pretty explicit that "whatever you're wearing that gives DR is your armor, regardless of how you fluff it". So if you cast Affect Spirits on someone's...

Re: Failed attack rolls

Yes. For instance a Neck or Vitals shot that still hits the Torso on a miss by 1. If they miss by 1, they might chose to still take the shot rather than hesitate.

I think I'm going to go with ...

Fighting Man 4 points/lvl (5 levels max)

Each level of Fighting Man raises defaults on all combat skills by +1, the default cannot exceed the base...

Re: Would you like a Melee Fighting Talent?

That's why my suggestion is just to only allow it to apply to defaults.

Yeah, but that point, maybe Talents are overpriced?

(Hint, they are.)

It wouldn't. There is too much that DX does.

Re: Would you like a Melee Fighting Talent?
