Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

Now I'm imagining some cross-time inventor failing at every get quick scheme except the "modern" paperclip design.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

Canines and their relatives are unusually domesticatable.
Many have attempted to domesticate all sorts of animals with only a low percentage working. Horses worked, but zebras, not so much.
Given...

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

Just learning/choosing not to eat people easily the size of normal prey is pretty amazing for any extant reptile. (I think quite a few of us have had house cats that would maul us to death by...

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

Perhaps I should have said trainable rather than domesticated in this context. Domesticated generally means usable and changed from natural state, I suppose.
I assumed they meant domesticated like...

Re: Highlander (ish) style quickening mechanic

The series does not match the movie well at all, and with most episodic programs, things quickly get inconsistent. Even then, I can't think of any major personality changes that weren't purely for...

Re: Completely left-field question...

That's the whole unliving and homogeneous difference in Hit Points though.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks

That story has an interesting synopsis. But yeah, like most things psychological, sexuality is a spectrum.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks

Eunuchs are very different, because their brains were never sexual.
Becoming asexual after puberty is quite different. I had a cat that was castrated as an adult, but he would still perk up his...

Re: Completely left-field question...

I'm curious for the evidence of that, but feel research on the subject would be too depressing.

Re: Completely left-field question...

Okay, lol for that one.
DR 6 is literally on par with plate armor. Allosaurus was less massive and certainly less robust than a white rhino. Weight estimates seem to fit the range for black rhinos....

Re: [Low-Tech] Hobnails and footing

Sweet. I love his channel, and he seems to know his stuff as well as using that professional scientist's tendency of carefully partitioning the spectrum of solid evidence to reasonable conjecture to...

Re: Code of Honor (Honesty), point value?

Only if their Honesty is connected to the local laws. I initially assumed that's what that disadvantage meant, but according to authors it isn't.
Your set of rules is what matters, not those of the...

Re: Code of Honor (Honesty), point value?

I see your point. In an otherwise realistic world, supers would/should join governmentally sanctioned rescue teams.
But governments in comics are even more corrupt and infiltrated by enemy...

Re: Crafting question

Also rarity doesn't always mean valuable. There are some beautiful rare minerals that aren't very expensive, because they're soft or crack easily making them poor for jewelry.

Re: Crafting question

They're pretty rocks/crystals. How much value a specific society puts on them is completely arbitrary and impossible to predict. It's fashion and aesthetics.
In some ancient cultures, lapis lazuli...

Re: Crafting question

I don't think you can get much agreement on how long it takes to make a good sword in real life. So in game, it's more about what "feels right" for you than any of our ideas of plausible rules.

Re: Strict Realism - Ribs providing situational DR?

The abdomen is just absurd with how sensitive and poorly defended it is anatomically.
It's only not a major target, because injuries there rarely incapacitate or kill quickly.

Re: Code of Honor (Honesty), point value?

But if your code does not allow slavery, then you can't promote it even where it is legal.
You seem to be assuming additional disadvantages not stated. Like how lack of empathy does not equal...

Re: Code of Honor (Honesty), point value?

That seems a stretch. How dare he open his eyes or pay attention to his surroundings? Is there canon that he can turn off his super senses?

Re: [Low-Tech] Hobnails and footing

How do you feel about the Youtube medieval channels? Any you think are really good or bad but popular?
I don't have the education to easily tell quality from opinionated nonsense.

Re: Code of Honor (Honesty), point value?

With his super senses, why should he ignore the suffering of others?
It's pretty gruesome to imagine a superman that just ignores all the crime.

Re: Bio-tech related Quirks and Perks

That really depends on how one defines asexuality in a specific setting.
If everyone's like that, then of course it's a feature.
But among humans, it will often cause problems and a sense of...

Re: False god idea

That all fits realistic people and belief systems, but this is for DFRPG where EVIL! and GOOD! exists.
Most bad guys are irredeemably intrinsically mustache twirling villains.

Re: Strict Realism - Ribs providing situational DR?

Ribs are flexible. Cutting and crushing shouldn't do less damage at all in my opinion. Impaling at best would still cut.
I agree with saying it's just the specifics of a lower damage roll.

At...

Re: Crafting question

I started to create a setting where orichalcum was made via alchemy. And they also didn't make it as sheet metal or ingots, but preferred to alter pre-made items.
You shape stuff when easy to do...
