Re: Difficult monsters

That seems like the opposite of what you said here:

And:

It's not the text of the rule, but the posts quoted above that is the source of my confusion. Prior to that thread I thought...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

I agree with this, but it really isn't in context with what that conversation was actually about. That the DFRPG might be unlikely to have a lot of print support isn't, to me, a sensible reason to...

Or, you know, make stuff up themselves.

Re: Difficult monsters

So this is another (very subtle) difference? The text for meteoric looks really similar.

Re: Difficult monsters

All metal arrows aren't an option, and I suspect that "The Deadly Spring" is far outside of the scope of this forum (here's my attempt at a modifier for meteoric arrows ...

Re: What would you have paid for five DF books on KS?

That would be useful, probably, but maybe a bit difficult in presentation. There are some big differences that could be presented as optional rule subsystems, like slams, but there are others that...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

I don't see why a line being "dead" actually matters. It's fun to buy new game supplements sure, but they aren't actually necessary. There are plenty of people who play games that only ever had the...

Re: [DF] Tiny Tools Effective ST for Damage Purposes

You could use the rules for oversized weapons from Fantasy Tech 2, to make a pixie buster sword or something.

Yes, so I don't see a reason to tell people not to get it.

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

If it is still available I don't see why they shouldn't. If it isn't then, there isn't really a point in running it for demo purposes. You can still run it, people play OOP games all the time.

Re: [DF] Tempered Glass Armor and Tempered Glass Shields

The obvious would be large shields that don't give -2 to attacks.

Re: Crystal sword...

Yeah, for weapons I would use Tempered Glass, for armor it should be a weight reduction for any ridgid construction.

But this is a thread about crystal swords.

Re: Crystal sword...

I don't remember anything in the game that indicates a monocrystal instead of an amorphous solid. Real world obsidian is also volcanic.
Even if it isn't a monocrystal, it still doesn't follow that...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

Also you would end humanity in brief spasm of naked starving drunk people turning everything they get their hands on into breweries, until they ran out of grain, hops and water.

The Paperclip...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

Clearly "make only whatever sells best" is a horrible business plan, because reductio ad absurdum, the only thing anybody would make would be cancer drugs or weapons or something.

If they only...

Re: [DF] Tempered Glass Armor and Tempered Glass Shields

Real glass, yes, but this is more like the "glass" in the Elder Scrolls games, which definitely can be used for superior armor.

Re: Crystal sword...

If it is glass, like in Elder Scrolls, I would just use Tempered Glass, since that's pretty obviously what that is for.

Re: [Spells] Why is Command a blocking spell, and how does it work?

Why would it result necessarily in a successful parry especially in DFRPG where it can't be Telegraphic?

Is there a reason from the text that indicates that command need to correspond to...

Re: Hold Fire in Ogre/GEV

Although you would also need guided munitions to have any chance of hitting moving targets with indirect fires.

Re: [Spells] Why is Command a blocking spell, and how does it work?

First, this isn't what Kromm said earlier, he said that these commands just result in confusion. Secondly there are certainly situations where attacking yourself or a buddy is just an Attack...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

A beautiful, playable and well-made product which sold out. As failures go, this one is pretty close to success. It was probably even, barely, profitable.

The problems seem to be that making good...
