Re: Food & other stuff production in a farm

Just to annoy everyone, we need to remember that very few forms of agricultural production are linear across the year - most crops require varying degrees of input, but only generate one large burst...

Re: Lemurophobia?

The pathology isn't in the fear - it's in the reaction. Remember a phobia can either be an irrational fear or a dysfunctional fear response (or both). I was thinking of a DF style adventurer who...

Re: Admirality court shenanigans.

If it helps, modern day earth salvage is usually covered by civil courts, not admiralty ones (as would be required for prize law) and the law indicates "generous" reward over and above the expense of...

Lemurophobia?

Is this a sensible name for a pathological fear of the undead (specifically - IIRC nekrophobia covers all of the dead)? Granted its a mixture of Latin and Greek...

Re: Stealing Souls From The Dead

I understood that the fae owed a tribute of souls to hell in at least some traditions - hence soul and infant stealing.

As to when a soul can be stolen ... that's going to depend on your setting's...

Re: What will you not allow?

That's fair - especially where you have player/setting dissonance (like a player who has accidentally imported a modern attitude into a historical setting and is about to get themselves killed).

Re: What will you not allow?

Dunno about the Captain, but in my experience the main "crossplaying" issue is immature male players using it as excuse to act like a tool. Women playing male characters - especially in high...

Re: Sailing ships at TL3

<digs out the can opener> Are these yachts really TL8 or are they TL5 devices made with TL8 materials? I remember that being a thing in High-Tech.

Re: Dinosaur Hunting

If they've got the same material strength limit problems that stop elephants jumping, a fairly small pit might be effective - break a leg or two and it will die ... sooner or later.

Runequest Grognard Question

Re: How do you get a horse?

Or possibly the titular horse from the C.S. Lewis novel, which was in many ways a mentor to the titular boy.

Re: Weapons in 1930 England

Twelve bores are still fairly common - a 20 might be a vermin gun rather than a sporting one so might well be a "lower class" weapon than an aristocrat's. Twelves are traditional for grouse and...

Re: Weapons in 1930 England

Note that deer are shot in the UK, but almost exclusively by the aristocracy (legally at least), especially in the '30s. Expect fairly standard bolt action rifles for that.

Re: five great tools of the dwarves

Still sounds like D&D to me.
I remember the magic clan forge was a thing in BECMI D&D, as noted the Axe had its own module - I think someone was after that around here recently - and again as noted...

Re: How much smarter would you need to make a horse so to pull your wagon undirected?

So we seem to be at a consensus that a horse is quite capable of pulling your wagon to any given place (all other things being equal) but the main obstacle is getting it to go to a specific location....
