Re: June 9, 2018: The Fantasy Trip: Wizard Cover!

I'll join in on this. I'm a fan of Brandon's art, and this is, as JLV says, well-executed, but it's a single figure with no background. In short, it's very plain. Now, perhaps there's more going on...

Re: 4th Edition Vehicles

There is a vehicle design book for 4e in the works, and it has been for several years. It's complicated and needs a lot of work, apparently.

Until then, there are scattered listings of vehicles,...

Re: Monomolecular blades

IIRC, the magic explanation for Niven's monofilament blades is that they were surrounded by a stasis field. The one-atom-thick object was, for all practical purposes, encased in an absolutely...

Re: GURPS News Observations

I can't speak for what GURPS-related work PK may or may not be up to because I don't know, but he is still active on his personal social media accounts. If he's in any kind of personal crisis, he has...

Re: Decomposition rates?

OK, here's your rule of thumb. Forget about the humidity and all that kind of thing. They aren't as important as one other factor you've mentioned.

If a part of your dungeon is occupied by...

Re: Decomposition rates?

(Puts on Very Serious Archaeologist Indeed hat)

There is no plausible rule of thumb. This really, really, really varies enormously by environment. Things can become overgrown and uselessly moldy...

Re: Making dragons slightly tougher

Do note that medium dragons are cited as an example of a monster which could potentially challenge a (poorly prepared) party of delvers; see the last sentence on Monsters, p. 22. Small dragons can't...

Re: Meteoric Paint giving a -5/-10?

I don't have a page reference to hand, but at the very least, that shows up in the DFRPG adventure I Smell a Rat.

Re: GURPS Game Aids: Files

Just realized I had some stuff I should post links to here:

GURPS-friendly 3d printable floors (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2880501).

Hex-based cardboard miniature stands...

Re: Tech Level Confusion

The X+Y notation indicates alternative paths to equally effective technologies. Equipment at TL x+y shares the same stats as equipment from TL z, where z = x+y, but the underlying technological basis...

Re: What GURPS needs...now (Pyramid articles)

Necromancy in a good cause: The general style guide (http://www.sjgames.com/general/guidelines/authors/style.html) has just been revised. I call the attention of those interested to this:

Re: Heavy duty turning keys?

I just worked up a 3d-printable turning key and put it up on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2853006). It defaults to the standard scale, but with 3d printing being what it is, can...

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

Somebody voting on a poll has the same effect as adding a post. New vote = thread goes to the top.

Re: Bring on Hall of Judgment!

Re: Bring on Hall of Judgment!

Judging by Doug's comments, it sounds like he's disengaging it from specific locations and deities but keeping recognizably Scandinavian (much as, for example, The Pagoda of Worlds is, one hopes,...

Re: April 1, 2018: Announcing Hall of Judgment for Dungeon Fantasy RPG!

That seems utterly implausible to me. SJ Games has for years avoided "vaporware" announcements to the best of their ability. That's kinda accusing them of deliberate deception in their product...

Re: GURPS slowdown?

Pyramid, which is essentially a GURPS organ, has been coming out monthly like clockwork since...well, forever. I don't think it even flagged during the Great Ogre-Related Stoppage.

There was a...

Re: April 1, 2018: Announcing Hall of Judgment for Dungeon Fantasy RPG!

This is clearly the kind of thing Doug writes (his other independently written fantasy works are notably Nordic-themed and it appears to have wrestling rules in it), the artistic style of the cover...

Re: March 22, 2018: More GURPS Goodness Back In Print!

You can see the books they've got slated for POD release here (http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/ondemand/); scroll down to where it says "Releasing Through 2018." The slated books are notably devoid in...

Re: March 22, 2018: More GURPS Goodness Back In Print!

*shrug* Other people are different from you.

That said, I'll note that most of the 3rd edition books slated for upcoming release are genre and setting books for which there's no 4e equivalent:...

Re: How Would Ultra-Tech Without Computers Work?

Re: Styling and Resale Value

I wrote substantial portions of Treasure Tables and the Dungeon Fantasy Treasures books expressly for this player type, coming up with some sort of utility for them as a pretext.
