Re: "Medieval" fantasy with tech 2?

Alloys of copper and tin have also been called brass historically (and vice versa), AFAICT.

Re: Is Doing Nothing to avoid consciousness HT check an option when Stunned?

Yeah it doesn't matter why you chose Do Nothing, if you don't take a different Manuever and don't use an Active Defense you don't roll.

There is a technical difference between brass and bronze?

Re: DF nymphs in banestorm

Against PCs there is no cap for MoS, and since it isn't supernatural Rule of 16 doesn't apply either.

Re: Drinking During An RP Session

Without stimulants I'm distracible and impatient, but then my brain doesn't do dopamine uptake right.

Re: Dose Lowering Will or Per when raising IQ count against the disadvantage limit?

"I decided to drop you from the campaign."

I have very little tolerance for players who behave disruptively or try to steal the spotlight consistently.

Insisting that your character is a...

Re: What will you not allow?

I don't allow characters who consistently do disruptive things that sabotage the game because they want to be "wacky" or whatever. I have seen this tank at least as many campaigns as new jobs or new...

Re: So Acting?

I'm not talking about stand-up. I am talking about long-form improvisational theater. Which is often comedic, but doesn't have to be and relevantly involves developing consistent characterization.

Re: So Acting?

Yes, that would have been my assumption up until now. Hence my confusion.

Re: So Acting?

I don't see how this makes sense in context. Nobody believes you are a 12th level Dwarven Wizard named Glorthar The Perceptive and I doubt most people want to make people believe that either.

Re: So Acting?

That is what I previously thought, but playing a character in a game isn't, I think, meaningfully "deceptive". Hence my current confusion.

Re: So Acting?

Performances with no stage and no audience/performer seperation: flash improvisation, interactive character performance, Renaissance Faire actors and theme characters, even theme characters at...

So Acting?

I thought I understood that Performance included all acting for non-deceptive purposes and Acting was long-form deception. Is scripted versus improvisational acting at all relevant to this...

Re: What will you not allow?

The context of my body-double question is in regards to Kromm's earlier statement, so I think your comment is still valid.

Is the difference between Performance and Acting based on...

Re: What will you not allow?

Roleplaying a character in an RPG is a "realistic portrayal for deceptive purposes"?

Also, "depart the palace by motorcade, arrive at the ministry of culture, enter under guard, ascend to the...

Re: What will you not allow?

Yes, because if Acting includes a significant body of non-decepective performance, it might very well also not include things that are deception. If the criteria is not based primarily on intent to...

Re: What will you not allow?

Not all improv is comedy. I don't generally even attempt comedy.

Also, in the round, interacting with the audience is the whole point, but interaction with other actors is still part of it and...

Re: What will you not allow?

I didn't think that there was a question about what skill that you use for improvisational theater, prior to Kromm's post.

Re: What will you not allow?

Presumably the skill of characterization in textual media is Writing.

I think that improvisational theater might come up in a game. Certainly elaborate deception can. I am significantly more...

Re: legendary actions in gurps

Not literally "half", but if the intent is to allow it to act between turns, then it doesn't require multiple parallel Waits or broad trigger conditions.

If it allows a choice of actions after...

Re: What will you not allow?

Yes, of course, GURPS is a game and in real life "skill" isn't easily quantifiable or discretely categorical.

I am trying, and clearly failing, to ascertain what Kromm meant in respect to GURPS...

I use exactly same skills, tricks and techniques that I learned for the stage or in the round when I game. The principle difference for me between Faire and a LARP (and the reason I don't LARP much)...
