Re: [Spaceships] Troop Transports

Coming at it from the other direction:

UH-60 Blackhawk
11 troops (geared for assault), 14 normally equipped, 20 if you're just stuffing people inside.
11.2 + 0.5 cubic meters = 413 cubic feet...

Re: Fencing Game Preferences

Perhaps... unless walking the Pattern counts. On the other hand, most mythologies have no problem with gods having divine descendants, so it's really Dworkin that had to earn it.

Re: [DF] extending Rule of 16 for high-point games

Such a modifier would typically be applied to Magery in the standard magic system. Compare with cyclical Magery, limited Colleges, or "Easily Resisted Magery", as seen in Thaumatology.

I think you misspelled "Corwin of Amber".

Re: How do time-travelers calculate the date?

Don't LEO satellites decay naturally in a matter of decades at best? Given that you're trying to cover possibly billions of years of Earth history, that's not a very high percentage loss of coverage...

Re: Are TL4 'Rocket-Pack's Possible?

It is possible to vary the maximum over time, though, casting variations on your rocket fuel burn rate and/or area in a pre-planned way. One application is for increasing the range on something like...

Re: [DF] extending Rule of 16 for high-point games

Use the rules for "Extreme Scores" under Regular Contests on B349. Reduce the lower score to 10 and subtract the same amount from the higher score.

The PU2 Perk is a possibly leveled Perk that...

Re: Basic Abstract Difficulty questions...

The rule does define the range as from 0 to -10, so presumably the Big Bad rates the Big Penalty. (Else, who would?) You can also possibly expect the PCs to pack some fine gear for a +1 or +2, at...

Re: Basic Abstract Difficulty questions...

"BAD" stands for "Basic Abstract Difficulty" (as in the title). It's an idea introduced in Action 2, Exploits, which replaces the usual task difficulty modifiers with a single rating for how...

Re: Index of all of the Critical Tables

Here's a list of "random bad stuff" tables from a scan of the PDFs I have (a collection which is by no means complete; I scanned 96 files for this list).

It may be worth noting that critical...

Re: waste heat

Good point. Though if we're going to add heat sinks to them anyway for non-jump reasons, they could be the same stuff that jump drives have to have (or at least used to have to have).

That's my...

Re: Error in Aid spell

Putting on my pathological rules lawyer hat, I'll point out that read literally, the wording on p162 only refers to Aid spells in conjunction with magic items, not when they're just stacked with...

Re: waste heat

Sorry; I didn't mean to suggest the fuel, but the jump capacitors. (Following along with the other suggestions to connect the magic heatsinks to powerplants or jumpspace, and repurposing the magic...

Re: waste heat

As long as we no longer have to burn tons and tons of LHyd for energy to store in jump capacitors, we can make those heat sinks instead, and retcon the properties of zuchai crystals to be heat sinks...

Re: Confused by the FAQ on Afflictions

A classic going at least as far back as AD&D's Levitation spell. Just fly straight up for the entire duration and let it expire so that the victim plummets to their death.

But if you're in a...

Re: Another Q. about Area Effect and Affects Others

Note that defenses are a special case. One level of AO is sufficient to cover everyone that fits into your area, paid for by the AE. (Powers 108, 2nd para.) As the 1st paragraph on that page says,...

Re: How do time-travelers calculate the date?

How do time-travelers travel through time? The easiest answer is that their time machine tells them, because time travel involves measuring your movement through time.

Assuming we have some...

Re: Can the same NPC be both an Ally and Enemy to a PC?

You can certainly build it that way.

If the Phantom Thief is an Enemy, then there's some reason he has it in for the superhero, personally, and devotes some significant portion of his time and...

I don't know of any other "regular dose period" Mitigator examples. Pyramid is the main source I don't have, though my PDF collection is far from complete even otherwise.

The only Mitigator I...
