Re: 'Imperial Culture' (non-canonista)

Alexandria Deluxe:

This is an updated version of Chandler's hit Alexandria Handcomp. It carries all the characteristics of the classic Alexandria more drive space naturally enough. It also has a...

Re: Fencing Game Preferences

1400's Italy.

I would want it when the cutting sword had not yet lost it's place in civilian usage, and when the HEMA contained interesting stuff like cloaks, bucklers, grasping gloves and...

Re: waste heat

Re: Ideas Are Easy

The PCs are a forward armored car troop looking for a passage across the Rhine in 1945.

While they probe around they find a civilian delegation from a local town. They are sick and tired of war....

Re: OPH (Shameless)

The RoA sound more like a guidebook then a CoH.

Re: OPH (Shameless)

In "The Siege of AR-515" Nog explicitly states, "I want to earn their respect" which indicates that he at least as absorbed CoH (soldiers).

In "Business as usual", Quark is clearly disturbed at...

Re: Exotic Governmental/Legal Systems

One for a Monty Python like satire of Democracy: The candidates take turns insulting each other in front of judges. The one who does the best wins.

The insults have to be humorous, clever and...

Re: Exotic Governmental/Legal Systems

Such a society might be highly buttressed by kinship, gerontocracy, and religion. Like Jews or Armenians or Roma. The reverence for law is in part the reverence for the patriarch. Though Jews have...

Re: Claim to hospitality (earned by deeds)

One modifier that might be interesting is to have someone's kith and kin be able to cash in on this.

Another variation is to have it be a function of one's societies political position (American...

Re: OPH (Shameless)

Ferengi in DS9 behave more according to amoral familism then shamelessness. It is sometimes ascribed to them by other characters who are of course not racist because the Federation has outgrown such...

Re: Making elves for GURPS

They tend to have their own faults and often the same sort of faults. Vulcans and Minbari are both often insufferable. The ones that are most likable are usually the ones that happen to be with the...

I can't remember anything MUNDANE about them except the wood elves getting drunk. Even their vices seem lofty.

Re: Exotic Governmental/Legal Systems

Interestingly the Nuer managed to keep together with nothing worse then village vendettas. Of course village vendettas can be really nasty as note those writers note who calculate that a greater...
