Re: What Do You Want In A Dungeon?

If the point of the dungeon crawl is the dungeon crawl, I expect interestingly designed fights where each one has its own little trick or unique feature. However, I do prefer to have a better excuse...

Re: Crystal sword...

Note that if it's acceptable for the blade to only be partially transparent, you can use plastic with an edge of a different material, though other than looking cool it's not obvious why you'd want...

Re: Crystal sword...

The big problem is that it's nice if your sword blades can take a bit of punishment. Glass (both ordinary silica glass and other more exotic types) can be very sharp, but are ordinarily brittle....

Re: Off-hand weapon penalty

There's also a realistic chance that your ST varies between your hands.

Re: [DF] Magery And Effect And Healing Spells

So how is that supposed to interact with magic items? Do they use the talent level of the wielder or something else?

Re: Limitation: Fragile

I am stunned or failed a consciousness check. Either one makes my skills useless.

Re: What sort of computer game suits GURPS best?

Urr...that's a super weird build. If you want to disintegrate people, just take guns(rifle)-23 [48] and use an assault rifle. If you want to be non-silly, even guns-12 is enough that five will take...

Re: What sort of computer game suits GURPS best?

Eh, depends on TL and rules in use. A 250 point DF combat monster is unlikely to lose to 5 50 point guards.

Re: [DF] Why don't sea elves have Speak Underwater?

I'm also not convinced that speak underwater should be more than a perk.

Re: Limitation: Fragile

Mostly yes. I might give it a -10% limitation instead of the -5% I'd allow for IQ because it's slightly more relevant.

Re: [DF] Magery And Effect And Healing Spells

Ah. No. It might count if the item used a magery-based power source (rules unclear), but it certainly doesn't apply for druidic or divine items.

Re: [DF] Magery And Effect And Healing Spells

I would count a wand as the caster, so the wand would be at -3 per retry (though you could use different wands).

Re: Limitation: Fragile

I have never seen any of that matter. By the time you're at 0 hp, it's almost always too late. There's two normal ways of dropping to 0 HP:

1) Fail a defense or get critted. You have to make two...

Re: Limitation: Fragile

Wizards are not going to be casting a lot of spells when at 0 or negative HP -- heals don't work well and very few other spells are worth casting. Failing a fright check hardly matters when you're...

Re: Limitation: Fragile

Penalties on rolls you weren't going to attempt anyway aren't high value.

Re: The Future of the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game?

Looking over I Smell A Rat... (spoilers follow)

My first reaction to 'rats in a cellar leading to a deeper dungeon' is 'ugh, done that'. It's pretty much a cliche at this point. Going on from...

Re: Grav Pong

While this is true, in a setting where any ship you might board has remote control death fields available, you're either not going to engage in boarding actions, or you're going to have way of...

Re: A Dungeoneering Fan, but a Total Gurps Newbie

Well, not by that name. In either partial or total surprise, the side that loses initiative is mentally stunned at the start of combat, and (if not totally surprised) can attempt to recover on their...

Re: Limitation: Fragile

Temporary disadvantage is normally for ongoing effects, though it's probably fair to apply it to instant effects if the disadvantage is given a duration. For example, Jumper (TD: Fragile) would mean...

Re: How Do You Imprison TFT Wizards?

They don't really answer it, though. References to the Secret Commonwealth establish that phrase was in use in the 17th century, but we already knew that.

Re: Combat Reflexes without defense bonus

Well, no. Combat reflexes as implemented in GURPS is not insane. It probably just doesn't correspond to any real-world trait.

The real-world trait is something like:
Trained Response: there is a...

Re: How Do You Imprison TFT Wizards?

Yeah, anti-magic properties of iron are certainly very old, but the question was about the 'cold' part.
