Re: Anyone have a headless horseman statted up for DF?

That sounds arguably more horrifying than "just" killing someone.

Re: [LT] A Question of Comparative Weapon Traits

Yeah, I guess I kept confusing myself. Thanks

+3 down to +2 for one handed.
That still renders it a weapon that does everything a dueling glaive does but one handed.

I guess the methods and...

Re: [LT] A Question of Comparative Weapon Traits

That's for polearms, not axes and maces.

Re: [LT] A Question of Comparative Weapon Traits

It's that +3 feels like cheating, while the +1 feels unrealistic. I think it's odd that +2 isn't an option from any of the optional rules I can find.

+3 for no penalties and normal human strength...

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels

I was thinking in classical plague terms. And most realistic plagues have some methods of being fought off. Perhaps a form of magical sterilization like massive explosive overkill or removal with...

Re: [LT] A Question of Comparative Weapon Traits

Ancient thread, but it seems the most pertinent to my question.
I'm trying to give my ST 20 character an axe like weapon with R 2.

The Dueling Glaive used one handed by someone 18+ St does only...

Re: The End of the World

So massive flooding leading to Waterworld, but also massive droughts on mainland leading to Mad Max and/or Tankgirl.

Throw in a death cult or two using an Umbrella symbol and you got a wonderful...

Re: GURPS SPACE and placing orbits

The more we learn, the more it seems like rules were guidelines, and guidelines were assumptions. Other than that odd gap in planetary sizes between mega-Earths and Neptune, star systems have far...

Re: Catalog of the Weird Parallels

Or that gold from Midas that had always been gold could be "infectious". Of course even identifying it could be quite difficult.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

Right. For this thread, it doesn't matter how good, indifferent, or evil they are. Monster Hunter natives would simply see them as dangerous invaders of undetermined motives.

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

At absolute best, Infinity is like both parties during the cold war. They often topple governments, start wars, etc. That they sometimes engage in more classic commerce wouldn't matter much at all...

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

That's because they are. They're inherently imperialistic manipulators, just of an all too human variety. Monster Hunters would likely obliterate non-human agents, while ironically having the most...

Re: [IW] Ordinary Worlds with valuables!

If natives are also three times as strong and tough, someone's going to push for the Krypton or Asgard label.

Diseases spread people. Who didn't learn about smallpox infecting the Americas with Columbus?

Re: World Building - Very Shallow Sea?

A very old geologically inactive world may eventually become one with a near global shallow sea. Erosion evens out terrains.
Though six feet is really shallow and a narrow range to maintain over...

Re: Real-Life Weirdness

What I find creepiest is that they decided thieves would be scared off by nursery rhymes.
Monsters held at bay by creepy shaking voices singing children's songs sounds mood inducing.

Re: Kindly Necromancers

There are loads of fiction where organ donors haunt or linger around recipients.
The first example that popped into my head was:

Re: New Sci Fi Setting Seeds

I feel your post is especially appropriate seeing as how you have humanity first going to the moon, THEN inventing flying machines. ;)

Re: New Sci Fi Setting Seeds

Suddenly realizing that we can go faster than cheetahs with machines caught the public's imagination. MUST GO FASTER! is a very human urge.

Re: Kindly Necromancers

Wouldn't that mean the gadget is doing more than just compensating for over sensitivity? If sunglasses or what have you allows normal vision, then it's unlikely to dull very bright flashes too,...
