Re: I have an idea:

I have an idea:

Why don't you all actually buy the SJG miniatures and support the vendor so they can continue to support the game?

Re: Ogre Minis Revision Issue: Partial Damage for SHVY

I really think the undeniable fact that the SHVY's Achilles heel is that it can be defeated in one on one combat without a lot of units concentrated on it makes the whole issue of modifying its value...

Re: Ogre Minis Revision Issue: Ninja

I have always seen the Ninja rules reflecting the impact of electronic countermeasures on board. In my mind it is not an issue of can a Ninja be seen, rather it is an issue of the ECM being able to...

Re: Ogre Minis Update is posted

The great balancer for CM play is lasers.

I think the CM enhances the game as it forces players to have diversity in their unit selection.

Re: Ogre Minis Update is posted

If no other changes are made, at least keep the SHVY at D5.

This was sort of a realization that I trust SJ came to in further development of the game that a D4 is far too light for a vehicle which...

Re: Gary Gygax passes away

But neither Austin nor Indy are a 45 minute car ride from my house :).

Re: Gary Gygax passes away

This sad event calls for the permanent relocation of Gen Con back to Wisconsin.

Re: Game Store Survivability

Good stores will survive.

They find ways to build loyalty. They have large gaming areas. They keep vampire hours on weekends. They have refreshments and snacks for sale (high margin energy for...

Re: Another Rulebook Poll

The key consideration here clearly is what SHOULD the end product be to have the best chance to gain traction in the market.

As an old timer from Metagaming days, I am not as concerned about case...

Re: Ogre Minis Revision Issue: LADs

How would your strategy/view of the game change if you had to measure, with no pre-measuring allowed, and a time limit to complete moving?

It is not so strictly about the dice anymore - you can...

Re: Ogre Minis Revision Issue: LADs

Never used them, and likely never will.

I'm kind of partial to heavy nuclear artillery myself.

Re: The problem with OGRE

Focus on the basic rule set before you focus on the medium in which the game should be played. Otherwise you hold the rules hostage to the medium questions being worked out.

Ideally, the game...

Re: OM2 - What do you want to see?

Keep it simple. Easier to do, quicker to release, best platform for growth of the line in the future.

Just consolidate the disparate rules from all of the sources that exist now to create one...

Re: 30th anniversary of Ogre

I am betting on a lot more of 10 with some 9 thrown in for good measure.

Re: Favorite Cons?

My favorite used to be GenCon, not just for the gaming and vendor areas, but also for the great humor that the gaming public provides for people watchers.

Since it moved to Indy I have had no...

Re: Quick question about Ogre Ninja specs.

I'm guessing its the Ogre Miniatures rule book.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure its 40 treads with five tread units per inch of movement.

Re: Quick question about Ogre Ninja specs.

It's 40.

Five treads per inch of movement.

Given this unit's relative power in the game, 48 would seem to be too much of a bump. If you are lucky enough to hit it, you should be able to reduce...

Re: New Generation

Let's not forget less marketing effort to grow the game. :)

OGRE/GEV could have been as successful as Warhammer. It's all about commitment.

I really think the appeal of the game is diminished...

Re: What the...???

Good to know the project would be in SJ's hands.

Is this even an item on his radar to make happen? Timeframe not being what I'm interested in - just if it is something SJ envisions accomplishing...

Re: What the...???

Then the publication of updated rules for OGRE/GEV via PDF in e23 should be even more feasible now.

By publishing this electronically, it's all writing and editing ideas straight into money with...

Re: Azog's Arsenal: A Push Towards Nuclear Disarmament in Ogre/GEV

The appeal of this game to many of us old-timers are the following:

(1) Easy rules - so you can drink while playing
(2) Cool miniatures made of METAL
(3) The ability to design scenarios for any...
