Re: Help with a scrying ability

The "Sensory Only" limitation on Mind Reading actually appears in the Basic Set, and is indeed -20%.

I agree that Mind Reading with that limitation is probably the right ability to model this on...

Re: Quirk or Disadvantage

To me, this sounds like a textbook example of the Distinctive Speech quirk (Power-Ups: Quirks, p. 16). I doubt anyone except a very small group is going to react poorly to rather old-fashioned...

Re: Dodging the dragon's breath

Yeah, you're right - I misread the question originally.

Re: Dodging the dragon's breath

No, I was recommending rolling possibly multiple times. You'd roll once, apply the damage up to the crippling threshold for whichever location you rolled, and then roll again if there was damage...

Re: Dodging the dragon's breath

I meant what I quoted from the book - large-area injury attacks are always treated as if they hit the torso, and don't have any special effects for other locations.

Yes, unless the eyes are...

Re: Dodging the dragon's breath

Yes. See "Large-Area Injury", p. B400: "Don’t modify large-area injury for hit location (that is, treat it as a torso hit) unless only one location is exposed."

It makes quite a big...

Re: Dodging the dragon's breath

If you can't get to cover or outside the area of the cone completely, then yes, you can't dodge. Don't get caught in the open when fighting a dragon!

A retreating Dodge allows you to move your...

Re: A more severe version of Fragile (Unnatural)

How about "Totally Unnatural"?

Re: RPM Traditions Confusion

Whoops, sorry about that! I just saw "Paths" and defaulted, I guess.

To answer your actual question, then, I'd distinguish between casters of different traditions in RPM as follows:

First,...

Re: RPM Traditions Confusion

Ultimately this is a worldbuilding decision the GM has to make. As I see it, there are three different "levels of separation" for different traditions. At the first level, the trappings each uses are...

Re: A more severe version of Fragile (Unnatural)

As Bruno mentioned (http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.php?p=2215641&postcount=5)in the original Fragile thread, dying at 0 HP is basically "Double Unnatural", and Kromm confirmed...

Re: Kicking in High Heels

Yes, all damage types except for crushing always do a minimum of 1 damage (before applying DR). See "Damage Roll", p. B378.

Re: Kicking in High Heels

Actually, "High-Heeled Hurt" is different than "High-Heeled Heroine", which is what I suspect you're thinking of. High-Heeled Heroine lets you move about in high heels without any issues, and I agree...

Re: [Psionic Powers] Long-term usage of Technique

Yes, they have to roll every minute, and spend 2 FP every time they do as well. "Many uses of psi techniques are instantaneous; those that are not last for one minute, after which the psi can use the...

Re: doesn't need jump runup: perk?

I think a perk to remove the requirement for a running start for a full-length jump is pretty reasonable, yes.

Re: Bloodlust vs Charitable - The Battle of Wills

Quite possibly, yes. I'd at least call for a self-control roll to avoid it, if the character's actual friends weren't also in immediate danger and need help themselves. Charitable is worth -15 by...

Re: Bloodlust vs Charitable - The Battle of Wills

Personally, I'd require someone who wanted to take both disadvantages to put a limitation on Charitable - something like Accessibility: Doesn't apply to enemies in lethal combat, -65%. So, the...

Re: Luck advantage in practice

When building characters, I take Luck quite frequently - to me, it's an almost-essential building block of a cinematic hero, even ones who aren't necessary considered particularly "lucky"...

Re: Resolving move and attack on DWA & Feints

Well, as I already mentioned, the description of ranged feints seem to make it much more about reading your opponent, rather than moving deceptively (in fact, I could see a perk that let you do a...

Re: Resolving move and attack on DWA & Feints

Given that the logic of "ranged feints" is basically totally different than melee feints (it's about reading your opponent's body language, knowing which way they're going to jump when you shoot,...

Re: Resolving move and attack on DWA & Feints

Yes, that's how I'd rule it. If all you have are natural weapons, you have to get in appropriate range to use one of them. Note, however, that a kick defaults to DX-2, as well as Brawling and Karate,...

Re: Mindlink on its own

Ah, good catch, thanks. I had forgotten about that.

The +100% suggestion, note, was for Mindlink, rather than Special Rapport, and the logic was that Mindlink for one other person is worth 5...

Re: Resolving move and attack on DWA & Feints

Yes, you can raise Acrobatic Feint as technique. However, that doesn't automatically overcome the rules for Move and Attack. To do so, you'd have to design a new technique that did avoid them. More...

Re: Mindlink on its own

I'd let the possessor of a Mindlink know when it wasn't working, but not why. So if Alice has a Mindlink to Bob, and Bob takes a Planar Visit spell to the Elemental Plane of Jello, Alice would know...
